A one-of-a-kind spiked sailor hat, handmade from two pairs of upcycled trousers and transformed into a wearable statement against violence, division, and war. This sustainable piece merges military-inspired aesthetics with a message of compassion, challenging the symbols of conflict by reclaiming them as symbols of hope.

The crown is constructed from reclaimed camouflage and earth-toned trouser fabrics, representing the realities of war, separation, and human conflict. Dozens of gold-tone metal spikes are individually hand-installed, referencing armour, helmets, and resistance. Yet the embroidered band tells a different story. Featuring the slogan "Soldiers Don't Fight, Love Unites", this piece asks a simple but powerful question: What if we offered strangers the same love we give to those closest to us?

Rather than glorifying war, this hat stands in opposition to it. It is a protest disguised as a garment — a call to lay down weapons, open our eyes and ears, and recognize our shared humanity. Created as a reminder that choosing love is not weakness, but a conscious act of courage.

Every EyeLoveLu hat begins with sourcing secondhand garments, followed by washing, deconstruction, and precision cutting of every panel by hand. The spikes are individually installed and secured one by one, making this piece particularly labour-intensive. Designed and sewn in France by Lulu Mayfield, this hat is entirely unique and can never be replicated.
