EyeLoveLu First Workshop in 2026 | Intro to Sashiko: Slow Stiching & Repair
Hello everyone,
This year I am excited to open "EyeLoveLu Workshop" to the public and share what I've learned during my three-year upcycling journey. Through these workshops, I hope to encourage more people to join me on a more sustainable & mindful path. One stitch at a time.
I'm starting with a 2-hour hands-on workshop:
Intro to sashiko: Slow Stitching & Repair - Step away from fast fashion and into the rhythm of hand stitching.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll be introduced to sashiko, a traditional japanese stitching technique originally used to repair, reinforce and extend the life of everyday garments. Rooted in care and practicality, sashiko transforms mending into something thoughtful durable and quietly beautiful.
What you will learn
- The origins and philosophy of sashiko
- Basic sashiko tools and materials
- How to stitch with even tension and rhythm
- A simple geometric sashiko pattern
- How to finish and care for your stitching
What's included
- All materials (needle, fabric, thread)
- Guided instruction in a small group
- Your stitched sample to take home
Who this workshop is for
- Beginners (no sewing experience required)
- Anyone curious about repair, mending or slow fashion
- People who want to reconnect with making things by hand
This workshop focuses on process over perfection. Uneven stitches are welcome, they are part of the story : )
